Hard-wired for Christmas?

I have lived in the Southern Hemisphere for more than half my life—and yet I am so hard-wired for a winter Christmas that, sitting here in the beauty of a Southern Hemisphere summer, I still have a moment's disconnect between the weather and all the talk of December and Christmas and January. I was marveling just this morning that—even after all these years—I still have this almost-unreality about it all. At the sound of 'December', my body just wants to wrap up warm and sit by a blazing fire.

So, I got to wondering: if this is hard-wired in me, what else is? Are there other belief systems that I simply don't question? Maybe this is a great time of year to dig them out, dust them off, thank them and forgive me, and let them go…all in readiness for the New Year—which begins in January, which is in the middle of summer!
