Surrender

Many people are finding themselves in struggle, using old patterns and ways of doing things that no longer work in the new energies. And so many of us are being told now that the best way out of our struggles is to surrender.

Why is it we find the very idea of surrender - surrender to God's plan for us - so challenging? Is it because of all the associations that go with the idea of surrender: defeat (as in wartime), giving up, giving in, giving away our power to someone else? If that is the case, then is there memory locked in our cells and our chakras of a time when we felt forced to surrender? And is it the memory of the shock, trauma and distress of that incident that gets triggered by the word surrender? Are there also memories of having made vows or oaths to surrender to the will of another, be they human or Divine? Or injunctions from childhood about not giving up; about if at first you don't succeed, try, try again; soldier on…I'm sure you can come up with your own….

And if the idea of surrender for us means defeat, then we can equate this to failure: that we're not good enough, we didn't try hard enough….
